The Boston Globe is referring to family separation at the southern border as the “new Trail of Tears”:…/Z95z4eFZjyfqCLG9py…/story.html

The damage being done to these children is known:…/la-ol-le-children-parents-border-s…

The separation of children from their families at the US/Mexico border is so horrifying that I struggle deeply to face it, read about it, and act on it. I really do. It just might be the most devastated and outraged and sad that I've felt since the Greatest Mistake took office. BUT. We CANNOT look away. We CANNOT ignore it. We MUST act. NOW. And we can start with supporting S. 3036, Sen. Dianne Feinstein's legislation intended to limit the separation of families at or near ports of entry, (S. 3036).

This would allow children to be separated from a parent only if they are being abused, trafficked, or if a court decides it is in the best interests of the child. Currently, the Trump administration is taking children from their parents in an attempt to stop people from coming to the United States. The policy is a human rights violation and against international law.

"The United States must not be a country that traumatizes young children by separating them from their parents. ... Congress has a moral obligation to take a stand and say that families should not be forcibly separated," Feinstein said on Friday.

Thus far, 31 Democratic Senators have signed onto this bill. If your Senators are among them, CALL AND THANK THEM and ask what ELSE they are doing to stop this. If your Senators have NOT SIGNED ON, call and 1) remind them that this is a moral issue and that 2) separating families is in violation of international law, 3) and ask them to sponsor and pass this legislation.
