Slytherin's Silent Senate Subcommittee of Evil (aka Mitch's Marauders) is getting more media attention as their refusal to be public or remote semi-transparent continues, and the pressure must. remain. on. McConnell has said that some version of the bill will be available for his "colleagues" (in quotes b/c this is NOT how you treat actual colleagues) this Thursday.
From the NYT:
"If Republicans do not hold a vote before the Fourth of July, Democrats hope the pressure over the recess will weaken support. Then lawmakers would have just three weeks to pass a Senate bill and work out differences with the House before the planned August recess. The Trump administration also wants Congress to raise the government’s statutory borrowing limit before August, another fight that could collide with the Affordable Care Act repeal...
Republicans, who hold 52 seats in the Senate, are planning to pass their repeal bill using special budget rules that would bypass a Democratic filibuster. But they can afford to lose only two votes, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking a tie, and more than two Republican senators have expressed qualms, from moderates like Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to conservatives like Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah."
On Twitter, @TopherSpiro from the Center for American Progress says he's hearing "No's" from the following Senators: Capito, Collins, Cruz, Lee, Murkowski, Paul, Sasse. Heller, Cassidy, Portman. These could TOTALLY be false flags, and note that they are split into two camps: Too Mean (Murkowski, Collins, Capito) and Not Mean Enough (Paul, Cruz, Lee, Sasse). ALSO NOTE that THREE of the potential NOs are THE THREE FEMALE GOP SENATORS.
TODAYS #1 #ACTION: CONTACT THE THREE GOP WOMEN AND APPEAL TO THEM TO SAY "NO"! If you're not from these states STILL CALL. Find a way to connect yourself to their constituents when you call (does your aunt live in Alaska? do you have friends in Maine? are you generally interested in the survival of other humans in America?) Use whatever knowledge you have about that state, its constituents, and their specific healthcare needs. Appeal to them as humans, as mothers (Capito and Murkowski both have children; Collins does not), as professional women who have been SHUT OUT of decision making by their OWN colleagues.
Lisa Murkowsi (Alaska)
Susan Collins (Maine)
Shelley Capito (W Virginia)
