**SOLIDARITY SUNDAYS DAILY ACTIONS!***
Monday, January 23, 2017
Millions of people all over the world marched in support of women this weekend. It was f**king amazing. I hate to yuck all the yum, but heads up, people: today—two days after these historic, record-breaking demonstrations and one day after the 44th anniversary of Roe v Wade—Tr*mp took one of his first actions as "president": he reinstated the "Mexico City policy" aka the "global gag order" by signing an executive order blocking foreign aid or federal funding for NGOs that provide or "promote" abortion. This puts the health and lives of millions of women, especially in developing and poor nations, in dire jeopardy. This is Reagan-era nonsense that Obama rejected.
SO! Read on, and TAKE ACTION!
1. FEINSTEIN WANTS YOUR FEEDBACK!
I just received this email from Sen Dianne Feinstein's Chief of Staff—IF YOU MARCHED IN CALIFORNIA OR DC, PLEASE WRITE TODAY!
"Over the last few weeks, I have spoken to some of you individually and within a group setting discussing how you can be helpful to Senator Feinstein in her efforts to “resist” the Trump agenda. During this morning’s staff meeting, we discussed her opening statement for tomorrow’s hearing at the Judiciary Committee, during which the Committee is likely to vote up or down on Senator Jeff Session’s nomination to be Attorney General. From that discussion, I have your first assignment!
Senator Feinstein’s initial draft opening statement is largely motivated by her observations from this weekend’s marches across the country. In particular, she is focusing on the theme of equal rights that permeated every march. She has asked us to reach out to friends and contacts we know who participated in a march (D.C. or in California), and ask them to report back to us with a two to four sentence anecdote that best explains why you marched, how you felt while you marched, and what inspiration you may have developed as a result of participating in the march.
She would like to review these and, potentially, incorporate a few into her statement. Now, since the hearing is tomorrow morning, D.C. time, that means I need these back ASAP. If you have a network of friends who were with you, please feel free to disseminate this e-mail as broadly as necessary. We will take as many anecdotes as we can – no guarantees they will make the final draft, but, rest assured, she will read them all."

Recommended subject line: WHY I MARCHED
*PLEASE SHARE THIS WIDELY! You can include me/SolSun as the source (it is SUPER important to credit a source w/ emails like this so people know they're legit)
2. If you marched ANYWHERE, go to the Women's March website and SIGN UP for their 10 Actions/100 Days campaign. And write your postcards! https://www.womensmarch.com/
3. Finally: CALL YOUR MoCs about the "Global Gag Order" TODAY
"My name is ____ and I am calling from _____. I was one of the millions of people who marched this weekend, and I am outraged that the President has reinstated the Global Gag Order today. As Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said, this order "ignores decades of research, instead favoring ideological politics over women and families." I am fired up and energized after this weekend, and I want to let Sen/Rep _______ know that I will not sit by and allow the rights of women across the globe be stripped. Thank you."
*IF your MoC is reliably pro-choice, you can add "I appreciate Sen/Rep____'s strong stance on women's reproductive rights. Can you please tell me how s/he plans to react to this?"
*IF your MoC is anti-choice/GOP, you can add "I know that Sen/Rep _____ and I differ on the rights of women to control their bodies. I hope that s/he paid attention to the millions of marches this weekend, because we are NOT going away. We are organized, angry, AND WE VOTE. Thank you!"
