Oh man there are so many angry calls and emails and letters to be made/written, but today we’re all about BOOKS! Books for the holidays! Books for kids! Books for you! Your

 

  1. SS member and children’s librarian Jenny Berggren made this fantastic list of social justice-oriented children’s books from 2016 alone—they would all make great holiday gifts, so check em out! And it’s organized by age group, with IndieBound purchasing links!

  2. Make a donation—of $ or books or both!—to the Prisoners Literature Project. You can even purchase specific books that are in high demand from their wishlist.

  3. Stop what you’re doing (after you’ve donated and purchased amazing books) and read a poem. Or two. So any of us are reading political article after political article after heartwrenching essay after infuriating expose...sometimes it’s nice to just to pause and read a poem. List your faves in the thread below.
